News about Kitley goes to Plymouth Flavour Fest

Kitley sausage-making reached giddy heights over the weekend of 13-15 August at the Plymouth Flavour Fest when Andy made 450kg sausages, Laura cooked 70kg chipolatas as tasters and a half a tonne were sold!

Hats off to the team from Kitley who worked so hard to keep the sausages coming.

Kitley Café has temporarily morphed into a soup and salad kitchen - and with the good weather - seems to fit the bill nicely. We are also barbecuing out by the entrance whenever possible. Not doing a cooked meal menu on site has meant, as I mentioned last time, that the kitchen at Riverford has had to pull its socks up. I am pleased to say that this is the case and with soups, pies, pasties and cakes and other baked offerings there is more than enough to go around.

Our new range of Riverford-to-go lunch, salads and snacks are also available - and can also be picked up ready packed from the cabinet near the check-outs to take home. You will also find pots of our seasonal soup and the weekly easy meal pot

Streamlined shop layout

We now have both entrances open so you can enter from Pip's vegetable area or by the meat and deli counters. Either route will bring you into the spacious, bright, well stocked and easily negotiated interior. The café punctuates the shop and throughout the summer you can take advantage of outdoor eating areas to the front and side.

We think you will find the stock layout self explanatory and hope you will enjoy the variety of local & organic goods and the ever increasing number of Riverford's own label products, made in the Riverford kitchen.

Superb butchers' counter

Well stocked with high quality local & predominantly organic meat and run by experienced, friendly, traditional butchers. Check out our extensive BBQ counter with a wide range of our own sausages.

Pips vegetable area

Neil Hawken of Pips Greengrocers of Modbury is providing plenty of summer produce - English tomatoes, Cornish new potatoes, Kitley pick-your-own produce, organic pak choi, soft fruits, Somerset grown peppers and cucumbers, lovely mixed salad packs from Modbury and Buckfastleigh and gorgeous strawberries from Balls Farm near Exeter. Meanwhile his local, exclusive to Pips, growers will be working hard over the next few weeks to bring us purple carrots, garlic, baby courgettes, broad beans, garden peas, yellow tomatoes, and even Modbury mushrooms!

There's also a profusion of well established herb pots to plant out or sit on your kitchen window sill, all ready to add to supper dishes.
